Insomnia

Insomnia

I can’t sleep at night.

This isn’t an occasional restless night type deal. This is full on, NO sleep for nights on end.  It is debilitating. It is dark and full of wolves that howl in my soul and drive me to the edge of disparity.

Yes, body chemistry plays a part in it and stress is a factor. Yes, I psych myself out so that I undermine any chance for sleep but I recently stumbled on a scripture that may help you if you also have this problem:  Psalm 121:3-8

he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

 God does not sleep!  He’s awake watching over us so that we can sleep.

When did I ever start thinking that it was up to me to keep the universe spinning?

  1. I had the same question recently. My prior employer asked if I could come back part time for a few weeks to help them get caught up. Originally I had said yes but the start date kept getting postponed. On Monday I had some doubts. Then the Lord revealed to me that it wasn't my responsibility to help them get caught up. They need to figure out on their own. In the process I am being shown how to trust the Lord to provide for our finances and needs without me running in to try to do it myself. It's not up to me. It's not on my shoulders. Praise God!
