QUESTION FROM LESSON ONE-

Can you say that God has brought you out of slavery to something better?

What gods are you still worshipping other than Him?

Are you hiding in a winepress of fear based on your external circumstances?

Are you hiding ANYTHING for fear of your oppressors trampling on it?

Three of the "Who I am in Christ Jesus" statements that sing to me:

QUESTIONS FOR LESSON TWO-

God is peace. If that is true, and that He is with us to the end of the age...and that He lives in us, and the old woman is dead, and the new woman is alive to Christ, then why do we feel so powerless?

What are some lies you continue to believe about yourself?

Counter them with a truth from the list of 120+.

QUESTIONS FOR LESSON THREE-

Identify your family "idols".

How do you think that idol affects you today?

If your family saw you smashing that idol, what do you think they would do/say?

Do those family idols control you in any way?

QUESTIONS FROM LESSON FOUR-

Look at the ways God is moving you into new roles as a mighty warrior.  Even note the small ways. Write them down!

Have you ever "thrown out a fleece"?

When has the Holy Spirit been super real in your life?

How connected to the Holy Spirit are you? On a scale of 0-10?

QUESTIONS FROM LESSON FIVE-

Have there been times in your life where you consciously decided to allow God to have HIS way rather than your way?

Is God calling you to streamline your life in any way?

Are there still some areas of your life where you are NOT allowing God to be included in your life?

QUESTIONS FROM LESSON SIX-

Keep track of your dreams for 1 week. Keep a journal by your bed and write down whatever you can remember from them- however bizarre. Don't try to figure out their deeper meaning. Pray, asking God to reveal what you need to know from the dreams.

Have you ever had a time of overwhelming gratitude or wonder towards God? What did you do?

What do you need an answer to this week?

QUESTIONS FROM LESSON SEVEN-

Who do you trust to pray with you?

A mighty warrior does not stand alone in the battle.

QUESTIONS FROM LESSON EIGHT-

What from the past is trying to own you?

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you to counter the lies?

Are you going to live your life your way or God's way?

Are you spending time listening to (worshipping) the garbage of this world or are you devoting yourself to times of worship?

You will be relentless about:___________________

QUESTIONS FROM LESSON NINE-

Am I bowing down to any idols of negativity, or lies?

Are there any remaining golden idols left in my life?

Student Response to Lesson Nine-

My student, Marian Price, from central California reported in with these results on her "running tally" that we kept during these last nine weeks of classes.  Here is what she had to say:

l. Who I am in Christ Jesus-
1)___I am strong in the Lord.
2)__I am healed by the stripes of Jesus
3)__I have put off the old woman and put on the new woman

ll. My Old Excuses for not believing I am a mighty warrior have been: I physically cannot do a lot, so how can I be mighty?

But now I am released from those things in Jesus’ name.

Truth: I am being changed into HIS image!

III. My father’s idols that have affected me in the past have been: I am not worthy or of value. I don't count. Everyone else is more important than me or my needs and issues.

But I am set free from those sinful thoughts! THE PAST DOES NOT OWN ME.

Truth: I am a royal priestess. I am chosen.

IV. I acknowledge the need for the Holy Spirit to dwell in me richly. I know the Holy Spirit is alive and well in my life by these signs: I had a dream during week four's study and God spoke so clearly to me that I was to start walking every day. I can't walk far but I started and during the walking times, I am praying and it has turned into a time where God has shown me so many ways to start with small steps to increase my strength- my physical strength!  I am now walking a half mile and it feels so great. At first it was about a block that I could go but the prayer time is as exciting as the walking time. He speaks to me every day.

V. In the past I have lived my life my way rather than God’s way. One situation that is still being run MY way is: I use my overweight body as my excuse for not doing or going a lot of places.

I now release this, asking for God to run it HIS way.

How I will do this: Keep walking and praying and even if I am very heavy, praise God that my body is His temple and can be repaired!

VI. I promise to spend time this week worshipping the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is in worship that He becomes the ruler of my life, and where my problems and battles are won.

While I worship I will expect God to empower me to face situations in my life with a fresh heart. Here is what He reveals to me as I worship Him this week:  Overeating is a way to feed my silent hunger for security, significance, and intimacy. Those things can only be found in Him. Practice stopping and examining my motives for eating.

VII. A mighty warrior does not stand alone.

I have formed a partnership with these people: Charlotte, Mary, and Cindy.

Here is what they have asked me to pray about for them as best I can: Feeling invisible, weight gain, travel plans.

Here is what I am asking them to pray about for me: Staying true to the Thin Within program and not condemning myself for failures.

VIII. I will be relentless when it comes to the battle over: my mind!

IX. A mighty warrior worships God alone.

In the past there have been many idols in my life and one that still remains that I have gilded with gold and set up in my own household is: self medicating with food as rewards and punishments. Food is the golden calf, or golden ephod. It has been everything to me.

I repent of this sin. I tear it down and declare this day that as for me and my household; we will serve and worship God alone.

I declare that this day, that I am a Mighty Warrior who worships God alone.

Amen!  Thank you so much for this class; this blog; the videos so I can stay in touch with you and the lessons.

Recognizing, accepting, and believing! -Student Testimony

As I began to read over the list of “Who I am in Christ”, a renewed strength and confidence began to stir within me. I have been praying over a difficult situation for some time, but now I began recognizing, accepting, and believing the authority given me in Christ Jesus. I believe my prayers are now spoken with greater power and as a result, increased effect over the situation. I’m beginning to see God move in subtle ways, enough for me to know I’m on the right track. And that too fuels my faith! The difficult situation has now opened the door to learn how to pray with confidence and greater effectiveness as I stand on the truths of who I am in Christ. A Mighty Warrior needs sharp weapons to fight well – the Word and faith! I’m also learning God meets the need of a Mighty Warrior for strategy, encouragement, and respite.

P.S. When asked to write something, I did my usual - shrug it off, thinking she will forget she asked me! But she didn’t and I finally realized I do this because I often feel no one wants to hear me. Mind you, I’ve been looking over the “Who I am in Christ” versus… I’m obviously a work in progress! I’m so thankful God is faithful and patient to work out Christ in me!

Student Response to the Mighty Warrior Classes-

How  "YOU ARE A MIGHTY WARRIOR", Instructor Marjie McWilliams, Is Helping Me in My Role as 'A Mighty Warrior'.

Over the years I have heard in bible studies and over the pulpit that my identity is in  Christ Jesus.  Why haven't I been able to grasp this fully and hold onto it?  I couldn't seem to take it to my heart.  I am learning head knowledge is different from heart knowledge.  I had head knowledge and I was not fully understanding or receiving Kingdom thinking down into my heart.  Finally, finally, as Graham Cooke's teaching on Kingdom thinking is discussed in our bible study "You Are a Mighty Warrior", I am getting a clearer picture in my mind about my earthly Personality vs. my Heavenly Persona. God ONLY sees us in our Heavenly Persona.  Through this study my focus has shifted over to my Heavenly Persona.  II Cor.4:4 I am a believer, and the light of the Gospel shines in my mind.

In class we are looking at Gideon's story in Judges Chapter 6.  In the beginning Gideon  sees himself as the weakest of the weak - God sees Gideon as 'A Mighty Warrior'.  Gideon steps out in obedience, smashes his father's idols and after throwing down the fleece, progresses into his role as 'A Mighty Warrior'.  How does this apply to my life?

I have been seeing myself, like Gideon, in my earthly Persona known as my Personality.  My past experiences, hurts and excuses based on fear have clouded my lens.  I have let them, along with my father's idols define who I am. God has been helping me smash my idols of self will, pride, the need to control, insecurities and fear of man, people pleasing and unhealthy boundaries.  They are being surrendered to Him and no longer define who I am.  I no longer need to throw out the fleece like Gideon did.  I can trust God and be confident when He calls me out to go forward in His will.  No more doubt or fear and excuses.  Clothed in my Heavenly Persona, I can step out immediately in obedience and go in the little strength I have as 'A Mighty Warrior'.  " I am strengthened with all might according to His glorious power." Col. 1:11

One of our study questions asks:  In what way(s) is God moving me into new roles as 'A Mighty Warrior'?   In 2011 God helped me step out of fear and into a Twelve Step study group with Celebrate Recovery at Real Life Church - to work through and find healing from depression, resentment and unforgiveness.   After completing the twelve steps, I again stepped out of fear and shared my life's testimony at an open share meeting, and I would become part of Celebrate Recovery's leadership team.  In sharing my past and exposing my secrets the chains of bondage were broken (smashed idols).  With God's strength and the Holy Spirit's leading, I was able to face my biggest fear of judgment and rejection to receive freedom.  " I always triumph in Christ." II Cor. 2:14.   God has called me to help other women find freedom.   To be bold in my sharing.  To remove any and all masks.  To be totally transparent.  Recently God has called me to writing assignments.   I am stepping out of the boat in faith and going with the little strength I have knowing God sees me as 'A Mighty Warrior'.

Blessings, Linda McNevin
